Korean esports organization Gen.G has officially launched its wine brand, GenRang Wine. Here’s what you should know about it.
According to the release, Gen.G collaborated with Korean wine company Allvintage Wine to create their own product. There will be two different types of wines sold: a Chilean red and a Chilean white wine.
This type of collaboration marks a first in the esports industry, as most teams have been mainly working with energy drink brands and non-alcoholic beverages.
Gen.G will be selling its own branded win exclusively in Korea, with Allvintage Wine assigning pickup locations in various cities, across four South Korean regions.
While alcoholic beverages have always been around for hundreds of years, esports hasn’t really been close to this sector due to the involvement of minors. That being said, esports has seen its average viewer age rise up over the years as it grew more and more, making wine and alcoholic beverages an appealing opportunity for all stakeholders, including esports teams.
Founded in 2017, Gen.G has risen to the top of the world after establishing excellence both in the competitive scene and in the business side of things. It is mainly known for having launched its own Gen.G Global Academy to form and develop a new wave of talents. The organization recently opened a new facility close to its HQ in Seoul for the program.
On the competitive side, the team was able to win the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational last month in Chengdu, China, as well as the VCT Shanghai Masters in Shanghai. Aside from the two Riot Games’ titles, Gen.G competes in Rocket League, EA FC, PUBG, PUBG: Mobile, and NBA2k. Among its partners, it has global brands such as Mobil 1, LG, Hyundai, and Monster Energy.
